Perrine Prieur Gallardo - Owner, Certified Sommelier
Perrine was born and raised in Burgundy, France. Her family owned some vines, no wonder why she developed a passion for food and wine at a very early age. At 15, she attended a culinary school in France and during those four years she traveled extensively throughout France working in various kitchens and eventually deciding to pursue her passion for wine. "The night I had a 1945 Chateau D'Yquem, I understood I'll be missing out if I only worked in the kitchen"
She worked as a sommelier in the 2 Michelin Star restaurant Le Gavroche in London. There, Perrine was able to expand her knowledge, taste incredible wines and maintain the very strict Michelin Star standards. Perrine's original dream was to open a wine bar in France, but after this experience in London she wasn't ready to settle in Burgundy.
In 2006 she moved to Atlanta and worked at JOËL Restaurant, 4 years later she opened Perrine's Wine Shop on the Westside.
Bethany Taylor - Manager, Certified Sommelier
After being burnt out on a career in marketing, Bethany decided to make a change and explore a career in something she was truly passionate about – wine! She started working at a small wine shop in her neighborhood, working food & wine events, and reading every wine book she could get her hands on. A mutual friend introduced Bethany to Perrine and her shop and said, this is where you need to be. And in spring of 2016, Bethany joined Perrine’s Team and feels like she has finally found where she belongs. She loves it when she gets to know a customer’s wine preferences and feels very rewarded when they tell her she picked out the perfect wine for their occasion. Bethany passed her Introductory Sommelier Exam in February 2017 and passed the Certified Sommelier Exam in January 2018 with the highest grade in her class!
“The best bottle of wine I have ever had is the 1999 Billecart Salmon Clos St. Hilaire. I am pretty much always in the mood for Champagne or interesting bubbles. Other favorites include Oregon Pinot Noir, Beaujolais, Loire Valley (pretty much all of it), Txakolina, and reds from Jura.”
Marcela Mendieta - Certified Sommelier
From working in different luxury hotels and resorts in their food and beverage programs for 8 years, this Miami native’s curiosity for knowledge lead her to move to Atlanta. Here she met several wine professionals, worked at The Ritz Carlton Buckhead, and completed The Court of Master’s Certified Course. Looking for more wine experience she left the restaurant business to come learn from the wonderful ladies of Perrine’s!
“If you ever want to buy me a bottle of wine, Riesling is always a safe bet! I am also always down for a glass of red Burgundy, particularly anything from Nuits-Saint-Georges, or interesting bubbles!”
Trey Wright - Introductory Sommelier
After working odd jobs such as playing in a band, trimming vines at a Muscadine winery, and being a ski lift operator in Montana, Trey found his passion for wine at the James Beard award-winning restaurant, Miller Union. It was at Miller Union that he learned to appreciate the intricacies of hospitality, food, and wine. He began as a server’s assistant at lunch but quickly made his way to becoming a bartender for the beloved Atlanta restaurant. Armed with the experience that he gained during this time, he sought to expand his knowledge on wine, which led him to working at Perrine’s in early 2020. Trey has passed his Introductory Sommelier Exam and is currently studying to become a Certified Sommelier.
“If you ever want to buy me a bottle of wine, I’m a sucker for Rhone wines with some age on them. One of my favorites that I had recently was a 1998 Dumien-Serrette Cornas. However, my loyalty lies with Champagne.”
Featuring handpicked décor, furniture and other fixtures, the boutique shop reflects the fulfillment of Perrine’s lifelong vision to share her French Provincial-inspired concept with all.
