2021 Arterberry Maresh "Weber Vineyard" Dundee Hills Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Refined and quietly powerful, the 2021 Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir from Arterberry Maresh delivers a vivid expression of old-vine Dundee Hills terroir. Aromas of spiced red cherry, rose petal, and damp earth lead into a beautifully textured palate layered with raspberry, crushed herbs, and warm cinnamon. Silky tannins and vibrant acidity give the wine lift and clarity, while a long, mineral-tinged finish underscores its finesse.

ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2021 Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from one of the oldest own-rooted plantings in the Dundee Hills, established in 1976 and dry-farmed on volcanic Jory soils. Located just southeast of the historic Maresh Vineyard, Weber shares the elevation and red volcanic clays that define the finest Pinot Noir sites in the region. These mature vines yield low quantities of intensely flavored, finely balanced fruit.
Vinified by Jim Maresh—a third-generation grower and one of Oregon’s most respected winemakers—the wine is crafted with native yeasts, minimal new oak (typically around 10–15%), and no fining or filtration. The 2021 vintage, marked by a cool growing season with excellent diurnal shifts, produced wines with precision, aromatic lift, and natural acidity.
On the nose, the wine offers red currant, dried strawberry, clove, and subtle floral tones. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, showing both delicacy and depth. Weber's signature is its structure—fine but firm tannins and a clear mineral drive. While already expressive, it has the balance and tension to evolve gracefully over the next 8–12 years.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Arterberry Maresh is the estate label of Jim Maresh, one of Oregon’s most thoughtful and terroir-focused winemakers. Grandson of Jim and Loie Maresh, pioneers of the Dundee Hills who established the Maresh Vineyard in 1970, Jim grew up immersed in the rhythms of vineyard life. Today, he works exclusively with dry-farmed, heritage vineyards in the Dundee Hills—most notably Maresh, Weber, and Juliard.
Farming is organic in practice, with a strong commitment to vine age and minimal intervention. In the cellar, Jim takes a restrained, transparent approach: spontaneous fermentation, gravity flow, neutral oak aging, and no additions beyond minimal SO₂. His wines are known for their elegance, clarity, and ability to reflect both site and vintage.
Arterberry Maresh has become a benchmark for classical Oregon Pinot Noir—wines that honor the valley’s history while remaining grounded in precision, purity, and a deep respect for place.
