ABOUT THE WINE

This 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin is crafted from a blend of fruit sourced from multiple village-level parcels throughout the appellation, many of which are situated near Premier Cru sites. The soils—predominantly clay-limestone—contribute to the wine’s power and grounded, earthy character. The 2020 vintage was marked by early flowering, a warm summer, and low yields, resulting in wines with rich concentration, excellent ripeness, and a firm tannic core.

After hand-harvesting, the grapes were sorted and 100% destemmed. Fermentation occurred in temperature-controlled vats with gentle punch-downs to extract color and structure while preserving freshness. The wine was then aged for 12–14 months in French oak barrels (20–30% new), providing subtle toast and spice without overpowering the purity of the fruit.

In the glass, the 2020 shows layers of dark berry fruit, licorice, black tea, and forest floor, all framed by bright acidity and a long, savory finish. A versatile red Burgundy, it pairs beautifully with roast duck, beef stew, or mushroom-laden dishes.
