This is from the village of Bassuet is the eastern frontier of Champagne, 50 miles east of Epernay. This is a Champagne which shows off the Turonian limestone soil that this region is famous for. When I tasted this wine, I was shocked at how much Chassagne-Montrachet like weight and minerality that it had. The nose is full of the creamy, baguette toast that one would expect from a top quality Champagne, but it also has intriguing notes of coconut meyer lemon.
