    ABOUT THIS

Situated on famous clay limestone of the hill of Puy Notre Dame in Saumur are the 13ha of vineyards of Manoir de la Tête Rouge. The domaine was established long ago in 1649 and current vigneron Guillaume Reynouard took over the estate in 1995. A few years later, in 1998, he began the transition of turning the vineyards organic, and they have been certified biodynamic since 2010. Today Guilaume makes a wide range of honest wines with the intention of expressing the terroir of Saumur in a most honest and accessible way. This means only indigenous yeasts, no oenologic magic at any time, and only slight sulphuring before bottling.

We consider our 18-hectare area as a living being, the cultivated soil and the surrounding air become the energy base of the vine. Our goal is to provide the plant the best possible environment to grow.
With this in mind, preparations based on natural products we use are made both plant matter, animal and mineral.
We use the Maria Thun preparation in late autumn before the winter solstice, one or two 500 Horn manures in spring, and one 501 Horn Silica after closure of the cluster. These biodynamic preparations strengthen the process of decomposition of the earth into humus; it allows a good decomposition of organic matter and brings the « pulse »
