    Beaujolais Is Not Dead is a cuvée that Domaine Chasselay first made in 2016, a year of freshness and fruit. The goal was to make a wine similar to Domaine Chasselay: simple but delicious. A shining example of the style of the house, which is insanely outgoing fruit. Incredibly captivating wine, this is a 'natural wine' that is well put together with pure expressiveness. This fruity wine has a light acidity and soft tannins. It shows a lot of cherries and red plum flavor, in addition to a nice concentration of old vines. It is a digestible cuvée that makes it difficult to put down your glass. Beaujolais Is Not Dead also represents the aversion to evil tongues imagined by the old Beaujolais vintners.

    Claire Chasselay, together with her brother Fabien, runs the small family domain located in the Appellation Conrôlée Côte de Brouilly, one of the famous Crus du Beaujolais. Central to this is an extinct volcano. The heat of the magma below the ground was so intense that the layers of soil above 'thickened', as it were, into deep blue-gray blocks of stone of unprecedented weight. The Chasselay family owns vineyards in the north of the appellation and in the far south near l'Heronde. The region is wedged between the central massif on the west side and the Alps on the east side. The Beaujolais region also has several types of surface, each of which imparts its own ripeness and style to the grapes. The gamay clone that Claire uses has small berries with a thick skin. Claire says that in order to make good wine, you must know, see and understand 100% the character of the vineyard involved.
