Product information
Based in sleepy Beaulieu-sur-Layon, the Papin family possess 54 ha of vines spread across the Anjou-Villages, Côteaux du Layon and Savennières appellations. They are one of the best-established quality producers in the region. Pierre Papin bought the then 9-hectare property in 1959. In 1974, his son Claude started to be involved and greatly expanded the domaine. In 1992, they took over the Clos de Coulaine in Savennières. The reputation of Pierre-Bise has been greatly enhanced by Claude and Joëlle Papin. In 1997, son Christophe joined the domaine followed by René in 2001. They progressively took over the running of the domaine with Claude increasingly disengaging and moving to retirement. In 2016, however, Christophe left the domaine leaving René in charge. The wines are well crafted and offer great value for money.
